Best Of 2008 (MUSIC) – CUT COPY

December 31, 2008 | Filed Under Lifestyle | No Comments

To finish off our “Best Of 2008″ series we decided upon a subject that all of us can relate to, music.  Nowadays it’s hard to find a good listening album where you can bump all of the tracks without having to hit the dreaded “fast forward” button.  This was not the case with Cut Copy’s album entitled “In Ghost Colours”.  Originally from Melbourne, Australia their recently released album made our skateboarding missions (up and down the coasts of California) just a little bit more enjoyable.  All we can say is that you can bet your asses that we had this album on rotation in our ipod’s while we were out skating and painting this past year.  Now go out and celebrate the fucken new year!

Looks like Steve Berra linked our website over at TheBerrics.com on our write-up for our “Best Of 2008 (WEBSITE)” blog entry.  (This should give us a couple of hits.)  Now if we can only get our team in there for a “United Nations“.  Hrrrrmm….

Farewell…

As with everything in life, people have to move on to bigger and better things.  (It’s just the process of life and it’s ever evolving state.)  A few of our squad members (HUCK, Masaki, & LUMBO) have decided to relocate homes out in both: San Francisco & New York City.  This doesn’t mean that we are no longer friends or that they are no longer in the crew, it just means we’ll be visiting those cities more often, and soon!

If you ever run into any of these cats out there make sure to stop by and say what up to them as they are nothing but genuinely, humble and cool guys that we have the privilege to be on our squad.  Good luck to them and see you guys soon suckas!

HUCK currently in NYC

Masaki currently in SF

LUMBO currently in SF

Bench Sessions (12/29/08)

December 29, 2008 | Filed Under Bench Sessions, Graffiti | No Comments

It’s been a minute since we last had a “Bench Session” blog entry.  We have a shitload of photos but are too lazy to grab them out of the harddrive, optimize them for web, upload and all that mumbo-jumbo.  But today we bring you nothing but tags and monikers on trains from our yard that was benched recently.  If you’re wondering why some of the tags in the photos have years dated back to 1996, um well… it’s probably because they have been running around that time sucka!  Do the math, freights = landmarks for days…

Best Of 2008 (GRAFFITI ARTIST) – REVOK

December 27, 2008 | Filed Under Lifestyle | No Comments

Time and time again this man has been bringin’ in the fucken graffiti HEAT.  You should all know who this cat is by now, (Even if you’re not a graf writer.) his name is REVOKConsistency is the name of the game with this sub-culture.  You might be getting up like crazy for about 2-3 years and then fall off the face of the earth if you don’t paint anymore (By then you’re considered a “has-been”.), but this guy is a machine, literally.  He has been smashing everything in his path, steadily and consistently (SAC?) for the past 11-12 years.  We’ve personally had the humbling experience to meet him a couple of times in our yard and most recently in Barcelona where we were given the privilege (Thanks to EKLIPS AWR/MSK) to tag along with the world famous Seventh Letter’s Letter’s First tour back in the summer of 2007.  His humbling persona and extremely, detailed, intricate execution of letters, that is consistently evolving, is what makes him our “Best Of 2008 (GRAFFITI ARTIST)”.

Best Of 2008 (SKATER) – Silas Baxter Neal

December 26, 2008 | Filed Under Lifestyle | No Comments

This man needs no introduction and has already been claimed Thrasher’s “Skate Of The Year” for 2008.  (We didn’t pick him because of that.)  We choose him as our “Best Of 2008 (SKATER)” because this man just absolutely flows on a skateboard.  (Just watch his video part in Habitat’s “Inhabitants” down below.)  It’s not because this dude did some crazy ass technical trick like a Tre-Flip to Crooked Grind to Nollie Flip out on a rail or anything like that, it’s because of his style and grace on the board.  This man just looks like he belongs on a skateboard, flowing in and out of his tricks like no other.  Each and every single trick that this guy does is full of speed, precision and straight out butteryness.  That’s why Skate All Cities chose him as the “Best Of 2008 (SKATER)”.

Best Of 2008 (CLIP OF THE WEEK) – Vinnie Lopez

December 25, 2008 | Filed Under Lifestyle, Videos | No Comments

Merry X-Mas everyone!  To keep you entertained on this Christmas day while you’re indulging on your tamales, ham, or whatever you eat on Christmas day, we decided to continue with our “Best Of 2008″ series with the best of “Clip Of The Week” for 2008!  If you’ve been checking out this blog on a daily basis, then you should already know that we have a “Clip Of The Week” each and every Sunday morning at 12am sharp, showcasing some of our crew members skateboarding talents.  Our “Clip Of The Week’s” are basically our throw-away footage or just footage that we had lying around because we felt that it was not “video-worthy” enough.  (Skate All Cities video in progress by the way.)  Even though it’s our throw-away footage we still have some bangers in there for 0SK8.  For 2008 we released 52 clips for the viewing public and had to narrow it down to only 1 for our “Best Of 2008 (CLIP OF THE WEEK).  It was definitely a hard decision between Steve Cuellar’s Switch Frontside Varial Heel down a 7 stair and the clip below, but since I was there to witness the shit go down, I’m going to have to give it to Vinnie Lopez for our “Best Of 2008 (CLIP OF THE WEEK)” award.  Switch Frontside Bigspin on his 3rd try.

Looks like everyone and their moms are blogging about a “BEST OF 2008″ series, so we’re going to be breaking it down with our version of what came out of 2008 that we thought was straight fuckin heat.

For our first blog entry of our “Best Of 2008″ series we decided on a website that brought us hours of entertainment, as well as laughs.  *Drum Roll..*  The award for Skate All Cities Best Website for 2008 is, SkateAllCities.com!  Haha, no just fucken with yah, it’s TheBerrics.com son!  The Berrics is basically a warehouse/training facility that is owned by professional skateboarders Steve Berra and Eric Koston where they invite nothing but the best of the best in skateboarding talent to document and film tricks.  With the website formatted as a (daily updated) blog, it is divided into various sections such as Battle Commander, Recruits, Bangin’Wednesdays with Reda and most importantly, Buttery Ass Mondays by Donovan Strain.  This skateboarding, video vaulted, website will help keep you entertained for hours on end each and every day.  We can’t even begin on how fresh this website is, so if you are a true skateboarding head, the chances are A.) You already know about it or B.) You’re going to check it out for yourself.  Go Get Your Wet Wipes…
