The next day after the Transworld Awards we went to Garvanza skatepark to warm up. Just a couple of blocks away from there was a street gap (bump over sidewalk) that you might remember our boy Tony Karr doing a Backside 180 Double Kickflip as the last trick in our VIMBY segment. Jesse had to get down on a buttery smooth Frontside Pop Shove-It for that one. Just peep the video below for the footy.

Abijah over here didn’t quite start off the day right. A Switch Flip down the Garvanza 6 stairs resulted in a miscalculated landing to ankle tweak. OUCH.
Transworld recently had their 11th Annual Transworld Awards earlier this month as well as the premiere of their latest video entitled “Right Foot Forward” featuring Kellen James, Joey Brezinski, Bobby Worrest, Corey Duffel and Matt Beach at the Avalon in Hollywood, CA. Thanks to the ticket hookups through Church Of Skatan, the Skate All Cities team were lucky enough to be able to attend the event and party. Alien Workshop had most of the nominees as well as the winners for the majority of the awards. Anthony Van Engelen won “Best Street Skater for 2009″. The video itself was pretty tight with a mixture of technical, heshy, and stylish tricks. Best part in the video (in my opinion) was probably Kellen James.

After getting back from Portland we received a lovely package from the homeys over at Thrasher. Included in the package were a bunch of t-shirts, sunglasses, stickers and the latest issue of Juxtapoz. The latest issue of Juxtapoz (June 09) had some pretty interesting interviews with GROTESK, MQUE as well as other various artists, but the thing that caught our eye was the Product Review section.

Look at what we have here, the Skate All Cities x REVOK board collaboration printed in the latest Juxtapoz magazine (June 09) that is circulated worldwide. HARD. This might be old news to alot of well established companies that have ads on a monthly (if not weekly) basis, but to us it’s like our first chance in breaking through into the industry in letting our names be known. If you don’t have a copy of this then you can order one over HERE.
If pictures are worth a thousand words then the photo below of Caveman says it all. One week into the trip and everyone was basically “lights out” but guess what? We had yet another 16 hour drive back home to the City of Angels. But this time around we had to do it in 1 day. (That was fun.) Let’s just say we started around 11am and got back home around, ohhh…..8am!

Not sure if you’re confused from seeing some of the new faces on here but on top of the 9 people that originally came up to Portland we had 2 more (making it 11 total) to bring back home with us. Elizabeth down below was one of them.

Overall the trip with the SAC homeys was fucken amazing. Nothing but good times with these guys right here. Nobody bitched out and complained like little girls throughout the whole trip and it was nothing but comedy, laughs, and good memories. Until next time…
Right after hitting up Otto’s we wanted to go skate but the weather was permitting this from happening so we stopped by the Shrunken Head Skateboard shop to waste some time. The shop has a pretty legit setup with random art installations all over by various well known artists. The thing that caught my eye though were the Ol’ Dirty Bastard skateboards that they had for sale. Pure genius.
If you’re ever in and around the Southeast Portland area then this is the joint to hit up for some sausages/hot dogs. From what I’ve been told they started back in the 1920’s and have been winning local awards for having the best sausages in the city for the past couple of years. Jeremy and I needed to find out for ourselves to see if all of the rumors were true. The result? Sausages were mad good. Don’t forget to add their custom Mustard Jalapeno Cheese (or something like that) that they have on the counter along with the condiments. Guaranteed Delish.
