After spending countless of hours trying to find this spot yesterday, we had finally found the mother of all skatespots and were ready to drop some hammers. Let me introduce to you “The Holy Grail”. This time around we brought our boy Justin from Boston to enjoy our fruits of labor. All I have to say is this is going to be the next early 90’s Lockwood High School. (Quote me on that.) In order to keep this school from blowing up (like your first toy doll) and due to its virginity status we’re going to have to keep the address & directions to an absolute not available for this Spotcheck.

Steve Cuellar – Noseblunt
There’s no easy way getting into the school except for climbing this 10 ft fence. (Just watch out for the spikes.) Dr. Oct proves that he is not only capable of doing Pop Shove-It Noseslides during his freetime while studying to be “who-knows-what”, but he can also flex those biceps. NO HOMO.

Pullup Game
Inside the school you will see a shitload of ledges. I repeat, “A shitload of ledges“. There are endless variations and combinations that go with them too. First up is probably the most popular set of ledges. Below knee high planters that go back to back from each other. Even though there are grind marks on all of them you usually skate the 2nd and 4th one for a line.

2nd & 4th
As if those planter ledges weren’t enough you can step your ollie game up with these waist high ledges. You can also skate the insides of them. I told you son, “The Holy Grail”.

If you’re bored of skating the planter ledges then you can just hop, skip away and skate these ledges that have a descending slope to the sides with a 3 foot drop. You can hit them from both sides; Regular & Goofy Footed.

After successfully catching a couple of clips (Riley), on our way out of the school we found these things. WTF. Back to Back, L-Shaped, metal benches so you can do your hop over on and hop over off tricks. Endless Possibilities. Did I also mention that on the other side of the school they have a huge flatground area with Betty Plasencia typed ledges that we didn’t even get to skate?

So the homeys (Riley, George, & Steve) have been talking about this school in the hood with the best ledge setup that they skated just a couple of weeks back while I was out in Boston. They claimed that this spot was the shit and would be considered as “The Holy Grail” of LA skate schools; hands down. The thing was: a.) they had no recollection of the name of the school, b.) only remembered how the fence surrounding the school looked like and c.) they kinda knew where the spot was because they remember seeing this wall while driving there. (So finding the school would be a breeze if we we got to the wall. “For sure.”) Needless to say, I took them to the wall spot and after about 2.5 hours of driving around the hood, checking out 15+ schools, and hearing “That’s it!” or “For sure!” about 20 times; we found absolutely nothing. But something in the back of our forgetful minds told us that we were so close and yet so far.

After our failed attempt at trying to find this so-called legendary spot we all decided to go back towards Downtown LA to get our skate session going. While cruising around the freeways we spotted a bunch of graf that we thought you guys might appreciate. After all, we are a skateboarding/graffiti website.

When we were about 10 minutes away from our next skate spot near Downtown LA (while stuck in traffic) good ol’ Dr. Oct was so irritated for making me us driving around town to try to find the spot, he made it his mission to find the school through his iPod’s Google Maps. After a couple minutes of stoney intervention he claims that he had found it and that it was “For Sure” this time around. Too bad I was already halfway across Timbuktu. We’ll just have to wait and see tomorrow.
Herbert Hoover High School located out in Glendale, CA recently reconstructed a plaza area near the center of the school. “Hoover” for short is roughly about 10 minutes away from one of our most frequented warm-up hotspots; Glendale High. If you’re in the mood for putting down some hammers and jumping down a 7 and 7 and 7 (That’s not a typo.) then this is probably the spot to hit. As you can see from the photos below the school has some smooth ground as well as some slick, marble-typed benches to work with.

In the center of the plaza towards the left (as you enter the building overlooking the stairs) is a gap over rail that you can try to toss your carcass over. Anyone up for a Switch Flip on this?

These were the marble-type benches that we were talking about earlier. Grinds and slides pretty smooth without the need for wax.

Shortly after the lazyness heat was taking its toll on us we decided to hop around town to another one of our skate spots called Betty Plasencia. You might remember these back to back benches that are stacked side by side from some of our Clip Of The Week’s (COTW). Needless to say, after hours of skating & filming we got nothing. You win some, you lose some. Maybe another day.

Located out in the heart of South Central, California is the “Slauson Super Mall”. Don’t get it twisted this spot is not exactly a mall, it’s actually an extremely large swap meet where you can get everything from boxers, socks, jewelry, NIKE’s, cellphones, car rims to getting your nails done/did, but most importantly bootlegged? New Era Caps for $25. Inside the “mall” you will run into shops that are stacked side by side selling the same style of Jordan’s along with RIP Michael Jackson t-shirts with “stunna gold foil” attached to them so you can get your “shine on”. In fact, we saw a spot where you can get a tattoo as well as some grills right next door to each other. Perfect combination to achieve your Paul Wall look. But to our disappointment the swap meet isn’t that cheap at all. In fact they’re somewhat pricey for it to be considered a “swap meet”.

We would of had more photos of this spot if it wasn’t for this one buster security guard that told me to put the camera away. I know right? LAME. Looks like one of our board collaborators HAELER shops around here too! Haha, holla!

Just this past weekend an artist by the name of P-ABLE aka “Jack Beats” sent us a message asking permission to use our name on a track that he wrote about us for a mixtape album that’s suppose to drop soon? I repeat, “A song about us.” Not the usual run of the mill, “Yo what up fam, check out my latest beats or tracks” myspace bullshit message, that’s for sure. What was originally suppose to have both P-ABLE (and currently incarcerated homeboy) Apollo on this track ended up becoming a solo mission by P-ABLE for now. The track references to a bunch of skateboarding/graffiti lingo mixed in with a background beat from Madlib. The best way that we thought to repay the homeys for taking their time out of their schedule to make this happen is to link to their myspace profile over HERE. Oh yeah I almost forgot, you can download the 3.3MB track to bump in your 1992 Honda over HERE or click the play button below. You know that triangle pointing over towards the right over there? There you go. Good looks and keep it movin P-ABLE! FREE APOLLO!

Here’s a hidden gem of a freight dated back to 2001 that was found circulating on 12oz Prophet’s forum. Don’t front like you’ve never done some toy shit in your life before.

This past weekend we were invited to go check out an artshow located out in East LA with live painting on females done by the ICK homeys. Since there were so many of them poppin up this past weekend, I absolutely forgot the name and spot of this particular venue. Sorry about that. (Took waaaayyy too many drugs when I was a kid, which equates to “extremely horrible memory”.) It’s all good though, I know that you’re fascinated by the ass shot down below and want to scroll down to check out more pics. You Perve.
