Channel Street Skatepark – San Pedro, CA

You might remember this spot from all of the footage of Daewon skating the steep transitions in the newest DVS video or maybe you remember this spot from one of our older blog entries of Gabriel doing a Backside Smith and Crooked Grind.  From what I know, the Channel Street Skatepark started off by a bunch of skaters building banks under a bridge that eventually turned into a skatepark.  (You can read the actual story here.)  If you rip it up on bowls and trannies then this spot is for you.  Unfortunately for us we suck at carving and skating bowls so the spot was just fun to dork around on.  I could barely Rock to Fakie on some of the transitions.  (Maybe it’s time to learn how to Shred And Carve?  SAC?)  They have a mini street course in the front entrance with a marble bench and some banks for street skaters but it’s all about the new section of the park that they are currently building towards the right.  It is of another bowl that has a vert extension and pool coping all around that leads out to a Pole Jam out of the course.
