The heads over at HB Speed have been beta testing BockChoy’s Evo X lately by “reflashing” the ECU with various maps and running DYNO tests. Keep in mind that the Evo X is still fairly new with very limited aftermarket parts per say your 92-98 Honda! I was told that we were 1 of 5 heads that are using this technology at the moment.
Here are some of the mods:
- Perrin FMIC
- Nisei 1 piece UICP
- AEM intake
- Everything else bone stock (motor wise)
- No Timing Adjustments, only Boost & Fuel. Boost is set to 23psi.
We should be getting the new T1R exhaust soon (if it ever comes out) and go back for more tuning with timing adjustments as well. This Dyno reads a stock Evo X at 254 whp, If you can’t read dyno sheets BockChoy ended up with 321whp and 320lbs tq with a smooth powerband on basic bolt-ons and reflash! The dyno sheet is in reference to a Protuned Stage 2 STI that makes 280-290whp on the same dyno.
For anyone that’s not into the import racing scene then let me give you a comparison of how ridiculous this is. An average racer can put down about $3,000-$7,000 into a Honda Civic just to get about 250whp, if that. We just spent about $2,000-$2,500 to get 321whp. You can do the math. Any Stage 4 STI’s wanna get down? Hahaha!
