Right across the street from the front entrance of City Hall is a parking lot that has one of the most recognizable skatespots in skateboarding history. I can honestly say that we discovered this spot waaay before any of your favorite professional skateboarders did. This was back in the early 90′s when we use to catch the Line 45 from Lincoln Heights to skate Downtown LA! We were the first to wax that grey, metal, air vent/box that’s no longer there. You might still even be able to catch glimpses of it from GIRL’s first video, Goldfish.

Slip N’ Slide
At its current state, this spot doesn’t have nearly as much as all of the things that it used to have. Over the years this spot has seen benches, boxes, and even an LA picnic table at some point in time. Right now, all there is to skate is really flatground, and the 4 stair over something (i.e. bar and/or barricade).

4 Stair over “?”

Right as you enter the hole in the fence, towards your left is a gap that Mark Appleyard kickflips onto the parking lot with little to no runway in one of the FLIP videos. Our boy AJAX aka AJ from Long Beach was on a footy mission and wanted to skate the gap so he went for a quick look.

45 seconds to a minute later (Before his filmers were even able to set up the camera.), he went for it. No hesitation.

But didn’t land bolts and ended up snapping his board.

After that I think we needed a break…
