Remember back when Powell was at the top of their game (from the early to late 80′s) with one of the best skateboarding crews of all time called the Bones Brigade? (Powell was called “Powell Peralta” back then by the way.) Then all of a sudden each team member slowly parted ways and started their own projects (Tony Hawk/BIRDHOUSE, or Lance Mountain/FIRM) which was one of the many reasons Powell resulted in taking a massive nosedive into the unpopularity zone within the skateboarding industry and almost falling off the face of the earth. Thank god they still had those nifty little Swiss Bearings and BONES Wheels formula to keep them around.
Well after a 7-9 year hi-atus from their latest video, they debuted with a new video entitled “FUN!” with a whole new roster of skaters: Jordan Hoffart, John White, Josh Hawkins, Dallas Rockvam, Derek Elmendorf, Ben Hatchell and Aldrin Garcia to be exact. These were the guys that had to fill in the big shoes where the OG Bones Brigade left off.

Custom Rat Bones Tiles!
Just about a couple of weeks ago they had a video premiere up in Santa Barbara, CA. At first, I wasn’t expecting much since I’ve never heard of almost 3/4 of the skaters riding for the team. Nor did I care too much for the brand after Celebrity Tropical Fish with Pat Brennan (RIP) and Adam McNatt, but I’m not going to lie (and you can quote me on this), I think “Powell is BACK and stronger than ever!” After watching this video I was absolutely fucken amazed at how diverse each and every skater were. They skated everything from transitions to street spots to handrails. Each of them were putting it down with creativity and style. Just look out for Jordan Hoffart’s ender ender with a beefy Frontside Tailslide to a 20ft(?) drop. I thought the regular ender was the shit though. Not going to spoil the surprise but it involves a Bigspin Varial Heel to something down a handrail.
