Huntington Drive Elementary School – Los Angeles, CA
September 24, 2009 | Filed Under Skateboarding, SpotCheck | No CommentsHuntington Drive Elementary School was the old stomping grounds. Back when the Skate All Cities gang were little grommets learning how to skateboard; we use to come here to session the banks to learn how to do Frontside Ollies. (Wow, that was a good minute.) Somehow we were around the old neighborhood of Lincoln Heights while driving around town and stumbled upon this spot again and realized that this was one of the schools that everyone skates in videos? WTF. I guess back then we weren’t as creative with skating obstacles as we are now.
For instance, we have the “Ghetto Launcher”. Those grates have been there forever but someone was clever enough to unscrew the bolts, place a bench under it for leverage, and throw a lunch table in front of it for those balancing good times. Very creative. Maybe we weren’t smoking enough or too much weed back then to think of that?

This school is probably most famous for the 13 stair gap over rail. Everyone’s done something over it, including Eric Koston’s Heelflip.

Then you have 2 “Bench To Banks” spots as you enter the school. A mellow version and then a steeper/beefy’er version.
