RECAP: ASYLM x RUETS “Sources of Inspiration & Damnation” @ TRADITION

We stopped by the TRADITION shop in Westlake Village this past weekend to show our support for Los Angeles based graffiti artists RUETS & ASYLM’s show entitled “Sources of Inspiration & Damnation“.  The turn out was amazing with people coming from up and down the California coast.  There were even a few heads (or 1 really) that came all the down from San Diego to check it out.  That’s a long 4 hour drive, but I’m sure that the “FREE BEER” that was being offered at the end of the road made it just that much sweeter.

If other shops want to know how to gain a good working relationship with their clientele through marketing, then you should be taking notes on what TRADITION is doing.  Not only do they carry some of the most popular and upcoming brands in the industry, but they also throw FREE SHOWS…consistently.  I repeat, “FREE SHOWS…consistently”.  Now how many of your local shops that you support does that?  I’m sure that there a few out there, but I can bet that there’s not too many.  Especially since everyone’s being tight with their finances and trying to save through “The Recession”.  Just check out the last party that TRADITION had with RAEKWON from Wu-Tang.

Injured List

Got caught up on a pretty bad slam yesterday.  Out of all of the fucken places that you can hit yourself on a curb – the way that I got it – happened to be on the sharp edge of a skatestopper!  Fuck that shiiiieeeet.  You can officially count me in on the “Injured List” for now.  Might even leak the video in this upcoming CLIP OF THE WEEK, but we’ll just have to wait and see.  During the meantime you can enjoy these screenshots from the video.

Karaoketown

February 2, 2010 | Filed Under Lifestyle | No Comments

This past weekend the crew stopped by the Koreatown aka “K-Town” area to celebrate our boy Dave Denio’s 30th Birthday party.  After several hours of guzzling down some “liquid courage” and sake, this is what you get.  A room full of drunken skaters trying to sing along to Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, Rammstein and whatever we could find on a Korean Language remote control and music selection book.  If you’ve never gone karaoke’ing before then you should visit a spot called Rosen cause that’s where we went.  For $50 an hour, you can get a private room for you and your entourage to “Sing All Cities”.  Wamp Wamp…

Pictures Are Worth 1,000 Words (1 of 5)

For anyone who’s been following our blog then you know that on top of having a love for the skateboarding & graffiti cultures, I also have a passion for photography.  The power of being able to capturing the right moment in time with the right angle and composition can make time seem timeless.  (That last sentence was way philosophically emo and homo by the way.)  After all, this blog wouldn’t be anything without the photos associated with the words, right?

Just recently I went through my old hard drives and found some hidden gems that reminded me of the fun and absolutely crazy times that I’ve encountered over the past several years.  Throughout the week we’re going to be showcasing about 30+ photos each day until Sunday (that have been collecting dust and buried into my hard drive) for everyone to see.  Some might be too much to handle while some will have you laughing your ass off in that computer chair of yours wondering what in the fuck was going on behind that photo.  Even though there’s a story behind each and every one of these photos that I’m about to show you, I’m just going to let the photos speak for themselves.  You know how the saying goes, “Pictures Are Worth 1,000 Words”.
