Just this past weekend an artist by the name of P-ABLE aka “Jack Beats” sent us a message asking permission to use our name on a track that he wrote about us for a mixtape album that’s suppose to drop soon? I repeat, “A song about us.” Not the usual run of the mill, “Yo what up fam, check out my latest beats or tracks” myspace bullshit message, that’s for sure. What was originally suppose to have both P-ABLE (and currently incarcerated homeboy) Apollo on this track ended up becoming a solo mission by P-ABLE for now. The track references to a bunch of skateboarding/graffiti lingo mixed in with a background beat from Madlib. The best way that we thought to repay the homeys for taking their time out of their schedule to make this happen is to link to their myspace profile over HERE. Oh yeah I almost forgot, you can download the 3.3MB track to bump in your 1992 Honda over HERE or click the play button below. You know that triangle pointing over towards the right over there? There you go. Good looks and keep it movin P-ABLE! FREE APOLLO!
We usually come up with our own content when it comes to blogging but sometimes it’s hard to go out, party, have a good time and try to document everything, especially if you’re not in the mood for taking pics aka too fucked up to take pics. Down below is a little video (compliments of AlwaysHustle.com) of a performance by DJ Exile, DJ Day & Fashawn that went down at The Elbo Room in San Francisco that we attended. You might have never heard of these guys before but be on the lookout for them cause they’re on the come up. DJ Exile is in the process of creating an album with Fashawn in the near future, hence the collaboration performance at The Elbo Room. If you think you’ve never heard of any DJ Exile tracks before then I recommend listening to Mobb Deep featuring 50 Cent – Pearly Gates track HERE (Yah, EXILE produced that.) or check out another artist/album that EXILE helped produced named BLU. While you’re at it you might as well check out EXILE’s VIMBY segment AQUI.
With all of the events going on during the AGENDA Tradeshow weekend, we decided to meet up with some of the SERYE homeys and stopped at the TRE7 Gallery for a couple of drinks. The venue probably had some of the most affordable and cheapest drinks in town, $3 Coronas. The event was pretty on and poppin with hotties at the venue as well as music by the SKRAPEZ & Diamond Doggs. We were there hangin out for a good minute before we bounced out to our next spot. More to come later this afternoon…
For our last party on our savage night out in Los Angeles we stopped by The Roxy to check out HYPER CRUSH perform. After being denied “hook-up” entries and not willing to pay the $20 front door entrance fee we decided to hang out the front of the club like “lurks”. We were actually pretty amused by all the madness that was going on outside. Mad drunken people smoking cigarettes and talking shit. I remember on my way out to take a piss on the side of the building I caught this couple basically dry-humping each other in public. (Of course we have pics for you below.) After that we randomly ran into some model type birds that took photos with us. Good Times. All of this and we didn’t even get to see HYPER CRUSH play. Wasn’t that the point? Bwahahaha…

After stopping by SURU we heard about a house party in Echo Park where Peanut Butter Wolf from Stonesthrow was djing at. Pretty random? This house was pretty hard to locate up in the hills but after finding the very limited parking and entering the side door you walk up on a stage/platform where everyone was bumping each other from head to toe. (Definitely not a chillspot if you’re claustrophobic.) We had the munchies around that time so we just got down on the free pasta that was there. Thanks to the chef who made it! It fed all 4 of us pretty good that night so we didn’t have to buy dinner. Oh yeah, props on the salsa too. Shit was amaaaaazing!
Last week I got a hold of 2 golden tickets to the Beck/Spoon/MGMT concert for this past weekend by a very good friend of mine. Since I’ve personally never been to the Hollywood Bowl before and had no date that evening, I decided to take my boy Beto. NO HOMO. I’m going to have be honest with you. I’ve never heard of Spoon or MGMT aka The Management before nor did I care too much for Beck, but we had these tickets so we decided to roll out anyways. Free concerts are always interesting to check out. Beto is already in the know in what is considered “hip/cool” music and said that I would enjoy it. So I did my research and downloaded a shitload of albums from these bands through torrentz.com. After a few minutes of browsing through all the bands (About 60-90 tracks total.) I found something that I was hyped on, MGMT. From what I know they are a band based out of Brooklyn, NY and premiered with their first album Oracular Spectacular. Spoon was another band that I heard of (through skateboarding videos) so I was somewhat familiar with some of their tracks. (I think Jason Dill had a song from them in one of his latest video parts.) As for Beck, I’ve heard of him before but never really listened to any of his music.

The Hollywood Bowl is fucken HUGE. (As you can see from the pics.) It was a nightmare trying to find our seats but after 10 minutes of searching, squeezing in between people, and getting help from the friendly baby-blue t-shirt wearing staff members, we were finally able to sit down and enjoy the music and watch MGMT open for Beck.
As the night passed we had this blonde chick sitting in front of us that kept taking unexpected, candid photos of us. (She was just probably faded and having a good time fucken around.) You know that I had to play along and shoot some photos of my own. Evidently she was prepared and smiled for all of my shots. Her name was A.J. aka Amanda Joy and not Air Jordan.
A.J.
This little leopard-skinned wearing mom that was sitting in front of us was shaking her rump for Beck.
Gotcha AJizzle!
If you’ve ever been to the Hollywood Bowl before then some of you may or may not already know that you can B.Y.O.B. aka Bring Your Own Beer. (I had no idea. It was my first time.) Everyone brought their own drinks, coolers, and grocery bags full of alcohol with extra goodies. This couple that was sitting next to us noticed that Beto and I weren’t drinking so they kindly offered us two cups of red wine each. Sahweettt….
As if the 2 cups of red wine wasn’t enough to get me twisted, (Major lightweight over here.) a full TECATE can of beer just fell on my lap amidst the dancing, screaming, and shouting going on while Beck came out to play. NO JOKE. I was sitting down and it just fell right on my lap. Almost hit my balls actually but the family jewels were tucked away nicely in between my slim-fitted LRGeans. Thank you tight pants!
After listening to 6-8 tracks that Beck played, we were somewhat disappointed and decided to leave early to beat traffic. Now for all of you Beck Fans out there, don’t get butthurt just because I personally don’t like Beck. (This means you Jessica.) I just thought that his show was pretty weak. The line-up should have went the other way around from Beck opening up for MGMT. Haha! Apparently from the photo below, people thought otherwise because everyone was hyped on his folklorish music and getting jiggy widdit.
Our Myspace friend Isabelle from Germany is from a band called Nude. The type of music that they play is a clash between electronica and drum & bass. Pretty good party/rave music if you ask me. (I’m actually bumpin it right now.) She was nice enough to send us a copy of their cd all the way from Germany. Each track is at least 4 to 7 minutes long full of beats and drum & bass. I’m not much of a music reviewing type of writer so I’ll let the music speak for itself. Just go check out their websites and thank you Isabelle!
