Pictures Are Worth 1,000 Words (4 of 5)

For anyone who’s been following our blog then you know that on top of having a love for the skateboarding & graffiti cultures, I also have a passion for photography. The power of being able to capturing the right moment in time with the right angle and composition can make time seem timeless. (That last sentence was way philosophically emo and homo by the way.) After all, this blog wouldn’t be anything without the photos associated with the words, right?
Just recently I went through my old hard drives and found some hidden gems that reminded me of the fun and absolutely crazy times that I’ve encountered over the past several years. Throughout the week we’re going to be showcasing about 30+ photos each day until Sunday (that have been collecting dust and buried into my hard drive) for everyone to see. Some might be too much to handle while some will have you laughing your ass off in that computer chair of yours wondering what in the fuck was going on behind that photo. Even though there’s a story behind each and every one of these photos that I’m about to show you, I’m just going to let the photos speak for themselves. You know how the saying goes, “Pictures Are Worth 1,000 Words”.

Here’s a nice little 6 minute montage clip of some of the homeys up north in Santa Barbara filmed by 16 year old, boy wonder, filmer extraordinaire; Jared Diamond. You can check out more of his videos and edits over HERE through his VIMEO channel. Stay Grindin…
Here are some new skateboarding clips that were released this week (found circulating on the web) that should keep you entertained on this lovely Saturday morning.
NIKE SB x This Is Qatar
Daniel Espinoza x LAKAI (Intro Video)
DC x United Nations @ TheBerrics.com
Matt Miller x DC’s “Skateboarding Is Forever”
You all know the deal. There’s not much that needs to be said. It’s all over the news, television and even in your social network profiles. The Haitian people needs our help. I just donated my $5 by texting YELE to 501501. I know that it’s not much, but that $5 can go a long way if each and every one of us did the same. SO DO YOUR PART! Check out the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund website HERE for more information. May peace be with you all.

This past weekend the homeys rented out a 12 passenger van for the “COPE2 x Bubbles Magazine” event that went down at the AirGrafx Shop located out in Long Beach, CA. My original intent was to stay home and play some “Call of Duty:MW2” since the weather was super-shitty that day, but I somehow convinced myself that it’s been a looooong time since a large number of us have had a chance to get together to hang out and just straight up fuck around; so I decided to go along for the ride. Fueled up on Gatorade, Water, Beer, Gummy Bears, Weed, Porn and an assortment of music from various iPods, we were ready to head out to the LBC to see what this event had in store for us.

Right as we arrived to the event we heard that COPE2 wasn’t even there due to unexplainable reasons, so shit was already beginning to turn sour a little bit, however, there were still a large number of people in attendance to show their support regardless of the weather or the no-show. I guess that it could have probably been the girls from Bubbles Magazine that had all kinds of guys flocking in and out of the door; left and right. I mean, live painting by graf artists on hot girls? Hmmm, sounds like a legit combination. Can’t hate on that as extremely as corny that may sound.

Halfway through the show I just about had more than enough “Hip-Hop” music ringing in my ears than I can handle for next 20 years. Oh yeah, did I mention that I also had a nice “burnt taco taste” in my mouth for $1.25 earlier? I think the highlight of the show/event went towards the MC’s that were battling at the end of the night: 2 Mexicans vs 6 Blacks. Let’s just say the 2 beat the 6 hands down with some of the funniest rhymes I’ve heard in a minute. Overall a good night hanging out with the crew.
